I grew up here in Maple Valley and went to Tahoma Junior High as well as Tahoma High School. My wife Carol of 41 years and I live in the house I grew up in on Lake Lucerne. Together we have raised our 3 children in Peru for 7 years and in Ecuador another 7 years before returning to the states.
We have added to our family four beautiful grandchildren who we adore. Together Carol and I enjoyed our travels and worked for nearly 14 years in South America as educators. Upon our return home, I began as the Associate Pastor of Care for Maple Valley Presbyterian Church. I recently transitioned from my pastoral role after 13 years to the counseling field where I get the opportunity to continue to meet the needs of a very diverse group of people.
As a new counselor, I am exploring many of the passions that I have enjoyed in previous roles which include working with couples as well as individuals that deal with depression, anxiety and other issues related to mental health. In my personal time I enjoy teaching.
I am a substitute teacher in the Tahoma School District, which helps me relate well to the issue's my clients experience with their children and grandchildren. I also enjoy hiking in my free time and am most proud of my adventures climbing Mt. Huscaran in Peru at 22,205 feet.
I am currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate and receiving outside supervision as well as collaboration through my colleagues here at Thrive.
