My Story

Hello, I'm Jenine, a counselor deeply committed to helping individuals navigate their journey towards healing and growth. Originally from a small town in Alaska, I made the transformative move to the Pacific Northwest during adolescence, an experience that profoundly shaped my perspective and inspired my passion for counseling.

My journey into counseling began in 2008 when I enrolled in Northwest University's M.A. program in counseling psychology. I was motivated by a desire to understand the impacts of trauma and stress on the mind and body, from personal experience and by the stories shared by friends, colleagues and family members. Graduating with a master's degree in counseling psychology in 2011, I embarked on a counseling career focused on serving adolescents and young adults in residential housing programs and foster care settings.

During this time, I had the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals, exploring therapeutic modalities such as movement, art, and play therapy to help clients process trauma. Additionally, I gained valuable experience as a child and family therapist in a community health setting, further deepening my understanding of the complexities of mental health and family dynamics.

My career took an unexpected turn as I ventured into the corporate world, where I supported employee relations, training, and organizational development. This experience provided invaluable insights into the impact of unresolved trauma on workplace dynamics and reinforced my commitment to returning to my roots in counseling.

Currently, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA), working under the guidance of a clinical supervisor as I progress towards full licensure. I am passionate about utilizing a strengths-based collaborative approach, drawing from techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, Family Systems, and Art and Play therapy.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I find inspiration in the great outdoors—a passion instilled in me by my Alaskan upbringing. Whether hiking, running, or exploring the beauty of the PNW, nature serves as a source of grounding and renewal. Equally cherished are moments spent with my husband, our adult children, and their families, fostering connections that enrich both my personal and professional life.

I am excited to embark on this journey with you, meeting you where you are in your quest for healing with compassion, curiosity, and unwavering hope.
